When the VARCEIS Club hosted its annual salad luncheon in Scranton on Sept. 8, special recognition was given to Roberta Henning of Jefferson. Mrs Henning is the final charter member of the charitable organization that began 67 years ago in 1949, using the first letter of the charter members’ names for the club name.
While the original intent of the organization was to provide a social outlet to mothers and their children, they found ways to raise money and give it back to the community which the organization continues to do in 2016. Introducing Mrs Henning was Susanne MacDonald (right). ~The Scranton Journal
